Six heritage buildings, 5 houses (1870-1890) and a former church, the Quaker Meeting Hall (1911), were acquired by the school between 1959 and 1978. The Quaker Hall was the first studio building in which some of Canada’s most famous dancers of the period were trained.

In the renovations of the 1970s an underground concourse, a small studio building and girls’ residence were added the the rear yards of the houses to create the second generation school. The studio building and the interior of the concourse were removed to enable the new work. To convert the old school into a single purpose residence, the interior required an extensive reworking to forge new connections and adapt existing spaces for new functions.
